I know exactly what you mean! The veteran ICU nurses laugh at me for feeling that way. One made fun of me because I was gentle with a patient. These things make me suspect my life span as an ICU nurse may be a short one.
Understand. Today I released wrist restraints on an elderly gentleman. He was fine until a few hours later when he tried to hit and kick my nursing assistant. I hate to see confused and dementia patients having to be restrained. I always think is this the way I would treat my family.
